Very Ancient History
Liriel was created by the Archangel of Light a very long time ago. She can, should she want to, remember a time before the first humans figures out how to move on the ground. She claims to remember the dinosaurs, but that may be snobbery kicking in. Or she might just remember seeing them in Jordi's realm. Who cares? Certainly not Liriel. In those ancient days nothing much interesting happened. Angels did angelic stuff, happiness abounded and all was swell and fluffy. Mostly. There has been suggestions that she is a force-child of Lucifer, but this has never been confirmed. Only Lucifer, God and Yves know for certain. The rest only think that it is quite probable.
Back then, Liriel was a wonderful singer. She was widely considered to be on track to become a Trisagonist, but that never came to pass. She was a very loyal and fiercely dedicated child of Light, and after humanity had been around for a few years, Lucifer sponsored her for a Word. She became the angel of Investigation. Eli wasn't happy about this, and did whine to Lucifer and Yves about the choise of Word. The Seraph had an ever greater potential with melodies, than with snooping. But Yves just looked mysterious and smoked another cigarette, refusing to comment. And Lucifer had his mind set on Investigation. (Nobody told Liriel this. To this day she doesn't know why Eli objected to her Wording.)
She became one to shine Light into hidden places, concepts, relations, etc. and bring it all into the open. And she did a bloody good job, never caring one whit about any hurt feelings that might crop up. She was cold and brilliant and utterly dedicated. She was the one stanting in the corner at Creationer parties, taking notes.
Falling
In short: Lirial wasn't much fun. As the conflict around humanity increased, Lucifer assigned a Cherub to look after Liriel. Shemariah was delighted to get that job, and didn't find it hard at all to love her. So he grew quite quicky to Love her. Liriel probably loved him back, but she didn't recognize the difference in her emotions between the normal angelic 'love' to the big time twin-soul thing. Not until present day, that is... When the Rebellion started, they sided with their Archangel naturally. They lived through and participated in the most horrible events in the multivers to this date. The wounds cut deep. Liriel soon came at direct odds with Dominic and his organization, and her final day in Heaven consisted of a fight to the death with one of his Cherubim. She lost several Forces in that fight, and if Shemariah hadn't been there she would have lost them all. He too was diminished after the battle, but felt much worse about the injuries sustained by his beloved Seraph. Who was no longer a Seraph. Liriel lost her feathers that day, and followed her Archangel into exile. Shemariah the Cherub followed his Seraph.
Ancient History
Bad times followed. Ages passed. Liriel passed from one Prince to the next at irregular intervals. Very odd, but there you go. You might call her a plaything of the Princes - you might be right. Liriel chose to forget much and more. At times she would remember Heaven as it really had been, other times she immersed herself in the balprop. Even wrote a bit of it herself. There would be years and ages where she lost herself in her new nature and went wild with her ability to force her truth on others. Then there would be quieter years, where She would help her regain herself and remember. And there would be times when he would fall into apathy or get fixated on things, and Liriel would be there to yank him out of it.
Andrealphus thought he killed their love. So did they. But all they did was to repress it so deep that even they themselves ceaced to know it. Parters, noting more. It's all about convenience, habit and efficiency. Only natural that they'd team up every time - they were used to each other's way of thinking, No time needed to adjust. Common sense really. Nothing more. Oh they've had fallouts, massive fits of jealousy disguised as anger over the other one being careless and endangering their misions, etc. They've even come to blows a few times, once causing a major mission to fail and tearing Forces off each other. That was the last time any of them made the mistake of aiming for power. Since the Ur-episode, they've kept to being mediocre in such a highly skilled way that they've managed to get away with it.
Modern History
In this day and age, Liriel is as sane as she can possibly be. Jaded, bored, ripe with self-pity, lazy and quite determined to stay off everyone's radars. She does only as much as she has to in order to get by, avoiding excellence and it's consequences like the plague. She likewise avoids failiure. Her current Role is nice and comfy, and the only thing really cramping her style is the disappearance of Shehariah. Apparently he went renegade, and she hasn't heard from him in years. She won't start worrying just yet, not until a few hundred years have passed. It's not like it's the first time they've been apart. But if he's getting fixated on another..... He better not be, because that is Inconvenient.
In the mean time, Liriel is busy being Liriel and waiting for something interesting to happen. Not the Armageddon though, she is totally against that! She is genuinely fond of the Earth and sees it as her personal playground and home. Armageddon would end that and that would be bad. Sigh. Bored.
