(By Sirea Theyal, with help from the IN list)
Evil has its roots, and Marc is its name. Appearing from apparently nowhere shortly after the Fall (although rumor claims he was one of the first Imps to fledge), Marc managed to wheel and deal his way to the top of the heap while still staying unbound to a Prince, a noble feat for the time. When he managed to make the first Lilim Fall, he presented her to Michael, and became the Prince of the Deal and the money-manager of the infernal realm for his efforts.
Marc's agenda is simple; he desires only to drag humanity into the pit through their own greed and desires, and he shows an amazing amount of callousness for an Impudite. While Marc didn't invent the concept of currency, he did manage to make humans squabble over shiny pieces of metal (dirty sheets of paper for modern days), and his efforts have been invaluable concerning information and the advancement of Hell on more subtle grounds.
On the corporeal plane, Marc appears as a young man or woman with slick black hair and a ready smile, always wearing tasteful and stylish clothing (though he sometimes appears to Servitors wearing a very old merchant-style outfit). Celestially, he looks like his corporeal form, but his skin shines a dark metallic green, his wings look gilded, and his black halo is rimmed with gold.
Servitors of the Deal are all expected to be as slippery as Balseraphim, smooth tongued as Impudites, and as aggressive as Calabim when it comes to their deals. No one is better at making someone snicker, thinking they got away with a huge steal, when in fact they were left with the table scraps. If you play your cards right however, valuable resources of all kinds can be found in the possession of Dealers. Despite how many demons hate him, Marc isn't going away anytime soon.
Now, if he could only manage to deal Lilith to his side...
DISSONANCE
When a servitor of Marc makes a deal with someone, they must be the one that comes out on the better end of it, or they suffer dissonance. Cutting equal is not dissonant, but frowned upon. Making another deal with the original subject and coming out on the better end will erase the first note of dissonance, but if this is also failed, the note becomes permanent.
BAND ATTUNEMENTS (Dealers, Backstabbers, Merchants, Gamblers)
Balseraphim (Restricted)
Marc's Serpents are masters of
creating ways in and out of deals and contracts. When the demon creates a
contract or make a deal of any sort, he may make a resonance roll. If he
succeeds, then a loophole or hidden clause is "created" for the Balseraph,
with the power or size of said loophole being in proportion to the check
digit. If the demon fails, he will not know it. Instead, the person on the
other end of the deal will see a loophole for him to take advantage of!
Djinn (Restricted)
Whenever the attuned of the demon
carries out their end of a deal or contract they are involved in, the
Djinn will know whether or not they cheated or got the better end of a
deal with a Perception roll. Marc's Djinn are always assigned to important
people who make contracts with him.
Calabim (Restricted)
If these Destroyers knowingly get
cheated in a deal they make, they may add their Corporeal Forces to their
resonance if they use it to harm the cheater or any physical goods that
was part of the deal.
Habbalah (Restricted)
With a successful resonance roll,
a Punisher of Marc can make anyone they barter with settle on buying from
him for 50% more than the market value, or sell to him for 50% less than
the market value. If the resonance backlashes, then the Habbalite will be
the one to buy for more and sell for less!
Honorium (Restricted)
Included in the information their
resonance gives, Warriors of the Deal can determine the general level of
greed and honor a person has about their deals. A low check digit would
give the general impression of how greedy their target is, and if they
have been more or less honorable about their deals. A high check digit
would tell the Honorite the exact level of greed the target has,
(including any Discord relating to greed or money) and how many deals they
have cheated on, and how many they have honored.
Dark Lilim (Partially Restricted)
Seeing as Dark Lilim
are a rare commodity in Hell, Marc hordes them with a Djinn's
possessiveness. When reading Needs, the Lilim can determine -why- the
person has those Needs to begin with. In addition, when she strikes up a
deal with someone, the Lilim will know exactly what the target wants from
the deal in the long run, and how much they will put up with to get what
they want.
Shedim (Restricted)
Marc's Shedim may possess objects
that have monetary value above one dollar on the common market. When they
enter the object, they must immediately begin to corrupt it. When the
Shedim corrupts the object, it begins to subtly degrade in quality and
price, slowly being transformed into an item of lesser quality. For every
full week they possess an item, its value and quality will be cut in half.
However, the appearance of the object will gradually improve, making it
look as if it is an item of greater quality and price! It takes a
Perception roll plus the number of weeks the Shedite has possessed the
object to notice that the object has actually degraded in quality.
Impudite
Every Impudite who serves Marc gets 12 free points to spend
on roles when starting play. In addition, they add half of their Corporeal Forces
as automatic Charisma to all their roles.
Skulker
Marc's Dark Grigori are his thieves. When on the corporeal
plane, all non-aware beings will have to roll Perception to see the Skulker, as
if he was in celestial form! However, if the demon interacts with anyone or any
attention is brought to him, or if he uses any celestial powers, he will be
noticed again as normal, and he must hide from sight and spend 2 Essence to
re-activate the attunement.
SERVITOR ATTUNEMENTS
Infernal Contract
When a deal is struck up between the demon and a
party, he may spend 1 or more Essence to create a written contract that
defines exactly what both parties want, as the demon heard it. If this
contract is broken, then the cheater(s) will take damage equal to the
amount of Essence spent times his Corporeal Forces.
Signed in Blood
This attunement allows a demon to extract his will
upon a human who willingly enters a deal with him, in a limited form of
the Lilim resonance. The contract must be made with 1 Essence from all
parties involved, and a part of their corporeal form. Blood isn't needed,
any part will do (nail clippings, urine, hair, spit, etc) but many prefer
blood for signing ease and the mood it invokes. When the contract is made,
the demon must define what he will take from the human when the deal is
fulfilled, and if the human accepts and signs, he will get what he wants
and must fulfill his end of the bargain when the demon asks at the
prescribed time. The human will be able to resist with a Will roll minus
the demons Celestial Forces.
Deal with the Devil
For 1 Essence the demon may replace one die in
any roll with a die rolled in secret by the GM. The player chooses which
die is replaced. For example, the player may attempt to get a better CD on
a successful roll by replacing a '1' with the GM roll. It is also
possible to replace one die with a better one in order to beat the TN.
DISTINCTIONS
Knight of Trade
With a Perception roll, the demon will know the
maximum market value of an item he is touching.
Captain of Accounts
The demon gains a permanent account in his name
accessible from any ATM or bank on the corporeal plane, into which 100 dollars is
deposited everyday. For greater service to Marc, the $100 a day may be gradually
increased to larger amounts.
Baron of Bullshit
When making a deal with someone, any Fast-Talk,
Emote, or Seduction rolls he makes are considered automatic successes, but roll
anyway to see the CD and for the possibility of Interventions.
RELATIONS
Marc does his best to stay on the good side of all the other Princes, so he can be sure to call in and do favors for them as time goes by. His relations flux from year to year as new deals are made and old ones are cheated upon, but overall Marc hates no one aside from David. If the entire world is as one, what's the point of making deals anymore? Marc is only allied to Christopher simply because their Words clash so well. If it proved profitable, Marc would cheat the Djinn just as readily as any of the other Princes.
