Laurence is an Impudite, the first one created by the Balseraph Prince Uriel, and one of his sons, the other being the Mad Prince Khalid. Laurence was raised with his mind being filled with constant propaganda and lies about the Fall, the nature of Heaven, and the true motives of Michael. From his early years in service to his father and the Demon King Michael, Laurence had a deep, romantic love for the ideals of Hell, and the wishes of Michael for recreating the world in his perfect image.

When the time for the Purity Crusade came, Laurence was so enthralled by the lies of his father and Michael that he fully threw himself into the battle. He performed so well that more than half the pantheons allied with Heaven were forever destroyed, and the rest were thrown into chaos, even with the protection of Beleth. Michael was impressed with how powerful the Impudite had become, and thus crowned him the "Blade of Hell that cuts all impurity away", and made him Demon of the Blade.

In the following years, Laurence only renewed his vigor, and with the ethereals cleaned from the Marches, he turned his attention to the perfection of the corporeal realm. He hunted angels who "interfered with humanity" with a Djinn-like passion, and his efforts helped to foil numerous plans of the Host. Though many demons looked upon humanity as mere resources, Laurence saw them as resources with more potential than most demons, and helped many an infernal campaign with the aid of Soldiers he personally recruited and brought to Hell's side, with a record number of nearly 600 Soldiers under his command. Again, Michael was impressed with the undying zeal of the demon, and called him forth to the Grand Palace, where the Firstborn asked the Impudite what it was he desired to do most. Laurence's humble reply was-

"Only to serve you and Hell my beautiful Lord, now and until you strike down Heaven, or until my Forces are torn from the Symphony in my service to the One True God."

So pleased was Michael with hearing this True, selfless proclamation of devotion to him and his desires, that the Demon King crowned Laurence a Prince right then and there, and gave him total control over the forces of Hell, the humans who sided with it, and the mission to aid all who brought Michael greater glory. With tears like black pearls in his eyes, Laurence threw himself before Michael in thanks. With his black sword shining, he stepped out into the Infernal City, ready to do his sacred duty, and ensure victory for He Who is Greater Than God.

Corporeally, Laurence appears as a young man or woman in their early 20s, often with the face and attitude of an idealistic rookie with much potential. Celestially, he sprouts bladed wings of black metal, and his halo glows with a malevolent black light, eyes burning with his undying love for the Firstborn and the greatest realm in the entire Symphony.

DISSONANCE

Refusing to aid anyone who serves the cause of Hell, be they demon, Soldier, Undead, Infernal Saint or Fated human. The demon must give any aid he can, for he is a blade of Hell, cutting down all who oppose the dark will of Michael. It is also dissonant to bring shame to the name of Hell; it must be respected and feared. Servitors of the Blade are expected to behave with integrity, dignity, and honor.

BAND ATTUNEMENTS (Each Band has their own unique moniker in Laurence's service)

Balseraphim (Restricted)
The Balseraph may add his Ethereal Forces to his resonance when he is trying to convince someone that he is on the side of good or evil. They are Laurence's Lords.

Djinn (Restricted)
Djinn of the Blade can only attune to one human at a time, but when they do, the demon may choose to make the human his loyal "squire", acting as a faithful servant to the dark knight. The human becomes a Servant Resource at a level equal to the demon's Celestial Forces. In addition, the human will act with the same code of honor that the Djinn possesses, if any. They are Laurence's Knights.

Calabim (Restricted)
A Calabite of the Blade may manifest his resonance physically, his target does not get a Will roll to resist, but they may Dodge the attack. This may appear as a sword striking from nowhere, or small blades jutting from the ground underneath the target, it is up to the Calabite. They are Laurence's Assassins.

Habbalah (Restricted)
The resonance of a Habbalite of Laurence may be used on groups, affecting several people at once. When rolling for resonance, the Habbalite may now affect up to her Celestial Forces in people, but the more people she affects, the more distilled the emotion becomes. Fury used on two people will make them lash out for a little less longer than if used on just one, while used on six people would only make them all quite irritable. When rolling for Will resistance, use the highest Will in the group of people the Habbalite is resonating upon. They are Laurence's Generals.

Honorium (Restricted)
Venerated soldiers of the infernal army, Warriors of the Blade may add their Celestial Forces to the check digit of any resonance roll they make. They are Laurence's Samurai.

Dark Lilim (Restricted)
If a Dark Lilim of Laurence attempts to Geas someone with the intent of making him help the cause of Hell, she may accept up to three levels of Risk on the Resonance roll (thereby decreasing the TN by 1-3). If successful the Dark Lilim adds the level of Risk to the level of the Geas. Anything more than a Geas/6 bleeds over into a second Geas with a level equal to the difference.

Shedim (Restricted)
A Shedite of the Blade may possess objects that weigh no more than his Forces in pounds, and for one Essence, instill the object with unholy power, giving it a deadly edge with Power equal to the Shedite's Corporeal Forces. They are Laurence's Weapons.

Impudites (Restricted)
If an Impudite of the Blade gets into a duel, he may Charm his opponent automatically -if- he manages to defeat his opponent without inflicting any Body hits, through disarming, a potentially fatal situation, or anything else that forces the Impudite's foe to give up. They are Laurence's Fencers.

Skulkers
Laurence holds an especial love for the Dark Grigori, for they, like he, are close to humanity and understand each other well. As befits the hidden nature of the Band, they may hide a number of objects that weigh no more than 5 pounds a piece on their person equal to their Corporeal Forces times two. These objects (which cannot be weapons, but it can be ammunition) can be summoned one at a time (once per round). They are Laurence's Rogues.

Blood Hunt

Blade Blessing of Lord Laurence

An Eye for Potential
When looking at a human, the demon may spend one Essence and determine if they are a Soldier of Hell, a Hellsworn, an Undead, or an Infernal Saint.

An Army of One
Demons of the Blade with this attunement may use the Celestial Song of Unity for no Essence, provided that they use it on or with other demons who also possess this attunement.

For the Firstborn!
In an act of supreme "selflessness", the demon may sacrifice his vessel in order to ensure victory for his companions, or failure for his foe. For Essence equal to the realm that the demon has the most Forces in, the life of his corporeal vessel, and a successful Will roll, the demon may become a sacrifice in Michael's name, attracting the Firstborn's attention for a brief second. In game terms, the player creates a lesser Infernal Intervention that does one of two things -- either the player may add the CD of the successful Will roll to the check digit's of all his companions rolls until the battle they are engaged in ends, or he may choose to -subtract- the CD from the check digit's of his enemies rolls, until the battle ends. If the Will roll fails, the demon will not die, but he will lose all of his Essence!

DISTINCTIONS

Knight of the Blade
These demons know no fear- they are afraid of nothing, having a deadly confidence in everything they do. They are not foolhardy however; they will know when they cannot handle a situation.

Captain of Hell's Soldiers
When fighting someone, the demon can roll Perception to see how powerful his foe actually is. He will know how many Forces his foe possesses, and a general idea of his combat ability, compared to the demons own.

Baron of the Legions of Michael
Same as the canonical Master of the Armies of God attunement.

Laurence is brimming with zeal and love for the cause of Hell, and he makes a note to get personal with each and every recruit he brings into the ranks of the Blade. He doesn't baby his Servitors however- in the legions of Hell, no slack can be cut, for the army of Michael is only as strong as it's weakest link. But still, Laurence cannot help but to show off his obvious skill and flair, and he loves to watch his Servitors gape in awe as he effortlessly destroys the filthy angels who dare to cause his beloved minions harm.
