(By Sirea Theyal, with help from Christopher Anthony, Michael Walton, and the IN List)
Belial is the brightest Ofanite in all of Heaven, his Heart and will burning with the holy desire to clean the planet of the Horde, and to burn evil away. He is bright, vibrant, hard-working, fanatical and full of divine fury. As second in command to the House of War, the Archangel of Fury has much going for him.
During the Fall, he at first fought with Gabriel under the charge of Michael, and the fanatical Ofanite desired only to slaughter those who would stand against his mistress. When he came upon Lucifer however, he saw the horrible Truth in the Lightbringer's eyes, and it burned his soul. He renounced his loyalty to the now Fallen Gabriel, and filled with the fury of God for what Michael had done, he fought against the Rebels and helped turn the tide of many battles. He was later recognized and rose to become the Archangel of Fury.
Belial's Servitors share his fervor and anger at the Horde, and they are one in all warrior angels, doing what they can to clean the earth of infernal taint. They work to make sure humans stand up or themselves when angered, and aid them to destroy demonic influence.
Unknown to many bt his closest associates Belial's Word is in constant conflict with his Fallen mistresses Word of Wrath, and it is a fine line he walks to ensure his Fury is righteous, and not wrathful. He appears as a well dressed man with fiery red eyes and striking black hair when corporeal, and in celestial form, he appears a over a 100 interlocked rings of red and white fire, blazing with holy fury.
DISSONANCE
Angels serving Belial must visit the wrath of God on any rebels they meet. This includes demons and undead, but not Hellsworn: humans can always be redeemed. If an angel of Fury discovers a demon or an undead, he must destroy it (or its body) as soon as possible; delay will inflict a note of dissonance for each day that passes without the angel actively trying to kill the rebel. Finally destroying the rebel will remove one note of dissonance that was incurred from delaying his death, but no more.
CHOIR ATTUNEMENTS (Flamers, Belialites, Pyros, Berserkers)
Seraphim (Restricted)
Whenever the Most Holy finds that
someone has lied to him through his resonance; he may opt to make the lie
flow back into the target and damage them. With a successful Will roll,
the Seraph can inflict the CD of his resonance in Body hits upon the liar.
This does not cause disturbance, but it cannot kill the target either. The
damage will appear however the Seraph desires, commonly as bleeding sores,
an intense burning sensation, or a very minor heart attack. Kobal has
smiled sadly many times when some evil person has said "And if what I say
is untrue, then may God strike me down where I stand!" to a Seraph of
Fury.
Cherubim (Restricted)
The Guardians of Fury will know if
their attuned has been the victim of selfish or unrighteous anger, and
will recognize the one who was angry at their attuned on sight.
Ofanim
Wheels of Fury are immune to corporeal flame, and corporeal
damage dealt by anyone who has the Angry, Berserk, Bloodlust, or Murderous
Discords.
Elohim (Restricted)
Elohim of Fury will always know the
exact reason why the target of their resonance is angry, and for how long
he has felt this way. Also, with a successful Perception roll, the Power
will be able to predict how long his subject's anger will last if the
current situation does not change.
Malakim
Malakim of Fury are some of the most feared angels in all the
Symphony. When fighting a demon, the Malakite may spend 2 Essence to engulf his body
in white flames, which last for the Malakite's Celestial Forces in rounds. When the
Malakite hits the demon, he may add his Celestial Forces to the damage he does. In
addition, if the demon hits the Malakite with a melee attack, he must roll to dodge
or take the Malakite's Celestial Forces in damage of the same type as the demon's
attack (Body, Mind, or Soul hits).
Lilim (Restricted)
These Lilim automatically sense any
Need that relates to the target having been wronged by the wrath of
another.
Kyriotates (Restricted)
Belial's Dominations can possess
any fire that is no bigger than their Corporeal Forces in yards. Because
of these angels, many demons have given up smoking for good; or at least
have switched to non-flame lighters.
Mercurian (Restricted)
These angels will not suffer from
Choir dissonance if they kill a Hellsworn who has wronged another human
within the Mercurian’s Ethereal Forces in hours.
Grigori
Ultra sensitive to the disturbance of wrath, these Watchers
automatically detect disturbance caused by excessive anger, within a range equal
to their Corporeal Forces in miles. They also will know if it was divine or
infernal in origin.
Ethereals
Though few in number, Belial does adopt some ethereals as
his warriors. They have the power to perform the Songs of Fire at no Essence cost
while in the Marches.
SERVITOR ATTUNEMENTS
Smoldering Fury
Same as the canonical Incendiary attunement.
Wrath of God
Same as the canonical Smite attunement.
Divine Mirror
Whenever the angel is affected by his Fallen
counterpart's resonance, and he knows about it, he may opt to make a Will roll at
a penalty of the demon's Celestial Forces to reflect the resonance back upon the
demon. However, unlike backlash, this acts as if the demon had used his resonance
upon himself in the first place.
DISTINCTIONS
Vassal of Fury
For 2 Essence, these angels can inflict righteous
anger upon a human whom they can see. The anger must be on behalf of a
cause with which the human agrees; otherwise, the human may make a Will
roll to resist.
Friend of the Wronged
It is one thing to be angry, and another to
act upon that anger. If the angel finds a human who is angry because they
have been wronged, with a successful Will roll he can make the human act
upon their fury and do something to better the situation. Abused wives
strike their husband down or call the police with no fear, bullied
children defend themselves, verbally abused people let their thoughts and
hurt be known with perfect clarity. If the subject of the angel's power is
normally pacifistic, they will feel no lasting guilt after they stand up
and act upon their anger; they will instead feel justified.
Master of Indignation
With this distinction, the angel may add his
Celestial Forces to -any- damage roll he makes when attacking a demon who
has caused him righteous fury.
HIGHER DISTINCTIONS
Seekers of the Lost Flame
These angels are charged with seeking out
the Servitors of Wrath, and showing them Belial's fury for his Fallen Mistress.
With a Perception roll, the angel will know if there are any Servitors of Wrath
within his Corporeal Forces in yards of himself.
RELATIONS
Allied: Baal
Associated: Valefor, Haagenti, Furfur
Hostile: Andrealphus, Kobal
BASIC RITES
-Deliver retribution upon someone who has wronged another
-Kill a Servitor of Wrath (+2 vessel-death, +4 soul-death)
-Convince someone to stand up for himself
CHANCE OF INVOCATION: 2
Belial is busy and very active in the War, and has little time to tend to the needs of his Servitors. He expects them to go out and deliver God's Fury upon the unrighteous, and kill every last Servitor of Wrath. Although his and Gabriel's Words are slightly different, Belial still suffers Word-friction, as Fury and Wrath are closely tied.
INVOCATION MODIFIERS
+1 A roaring fireplace
+2 Someone filled with righteous fury
+3 Someone who has been the victim of excessive wrath
+4 A burning field
+5 The grave of someone who died because they stood up for themselves
+6 10,000 people filled with righteous fury
