Logfile from Brass&Steel. Goldie is leaning against a wall, out of the way of the slowly dispersing crowd and the officials who are still wandering about busily. As Zach arrives she is just tucking a small black note book away within her jacket. Zach comes sauntering down the road and changes course as he sees all the commotion. he wandres closer looking curious. Lucian is at a pay phone, muttering a monologue in Romanian into it. Hanging up, he looks around paranoiacally. Goldie pages: Sarah OOCly said 'brb' a while ago, so don't worry about what she is doing. Goldie zips her fleece up properly then pushes away from the wall, a faintly satisfied smile playing about her lips which is at odds with the cicumstances about her. Zach looks around and notices Goldie after a while. He makes his way over toward her. "Hiya, Goldie. What's up?" he says as he comes close enough to be heard. Goldie blinks for a moment before recognition sets in and she gives a small shrug, "Don't know exactly, seems like 'Sweet Delights' wasn't all good after all. If they were shut down on a health violation then it's gotta be due to some really big bugs concidering that there was SWAT people about earlier." Zachs eyebrows jump up and try to grab the sky. "What? SWAT-team in a sweetshop? Oh man. Weird. That's really weird...." Sarah looks around in disapointment as people start to wander off. She glances in Lucian's direction and raises an eyebrow at him, clear asking him if he want's some company. Goldie suggests somewhat sarcastically, "Maybe they just had the munchies when it was getting shut down?" Lucian nods, slowly, as he watches the crowd by Sweet Delights disperse. Zach deadpans and nods. "Yeah. Sounds logical." He grins then. Sarah raises an eyebrow as she spots Zach but does not approch him Goldie gives a small smile in return, "So, you just here to gawp like the rest of us?" Zach says, "Perception for Sarah and Lucian" AutoJudge: Zach rolls: 2 + 1 = 3 . Check die: 1 AutoJudge: Zach rolls: 2 + 5 = 7 . Check die: 1 Sarah needs to go in a few minutes. Lucian :( Zach chuckles and goes on to help Goldie support the wall. "Yeah and no. I was actually just passing by and then I saw all the hoolabaloo and got curious. You seen the whole thing?" Zach *sniffle* Sarah says, "sorry, weekly D&D game." Lucian says, "Roll a d20 and think of us. :p" Goldie resists an urge to hancuff Sarah in place anyway... Sarah will :) Zach says, "As we will pine for you! :)" Sarah wanders over towards Lucian, trying to figure out if he wants her there. Lucian quickly hurries towards her. Grumbling - back in the voice he normally uses - he commences his tirade. "They closed down the coffee shop. It was the best coffee shop in this town!" He stops one foot petulantly. Goldie shook her head, "Naw, I just managed to come along when someone was finishing off her speech. From the way she said things you'd have thought that somebody was going to ram..." She paused, censoring her initial thought, "...ram something down her throat if she didn't get everything just right." Sarah nods "Yeah I know! I always went there for coffee,..good lord, I hope they didn't put rat poison in everything or something." Zach's grin becomes somewhat lopsided as he notes Goldies self-censorship, and he looks even mpre rougish than usual. "Heh. What do you mean? Some sort of political authority dudette?" Lucian taps his fingers against the top of the pay phone kiosk with a frown. "Nu, I doubt it. It was excellent coffee." He shakes his head. "Something is not right here, and I wonder what it is they were brewing besides coffee to bring such a strong response." Sarah nods and mutters something to Lucian softly Sarah mutters to Lucian, "... were talking... I... mean."" Lucian shakes his head and whispers back. Lucian mutters to Sarah, "... That man,... Deputy..." Goldie nodded at that, "Either that or some actress was doing great in that kinda role and fooling the reporters that were here as well." Sarah mutters to Lucian, "Really, I... that they called... Deputy Director."" Lucian nods his head sharply. Zach nods to Goldie and glances around to see the continuingly busy officials. "So what was her story? I mean speech.." Sarah eyes flick towards Zach and she rasies an eyebrow at Lucian Goldie says, "Well, I only caught the end of it but it sounded like she was giving out lots of detail to avoid saying anything useful. She mentioned something about the 'deputy director of FEMA' then said a whole chunk of stuff about that guys accomplishments. The term 'filling space' comes to mind."" Lucian follows Sarah's eyes, and sighs. He mutters to Sarah, "There... the..." Sarah nods and shrugs, smiling slightly "I think I'll go over and say hello." Lucian shrugs. "As you please," he says. Zach lifts his hand and strokes his chin thoughtfully, then shrugs a bit. "FEMA, eh. That's interesting in it's own weird way. Now what would they want with a coffee and sweetshop... I guess I better read the papers these next few days and get the gossip." He grins. Lucian says, "I'm sorry, guys. I'm gonna have to fade out for a bit. I'll be back in a bit, I suspect. :)" Zach says, "Awww...." Lucian waves, hugs, and departs. Lucian has disconnected. Goldie sighs and looks at the others here, "You better not vanish on me..." Sarah saunters over to Zach and smiles "Hey Zach!" Zach will not unless his ADSL or pc dies:) Goldie looks up at the voice calling nearby despite it not being her name that is called. A gleam of recognitions appears in her eyes for a moment and she waits for Sarah to reach them through the thinning crowd. Zach looks up at being hailed and lifts his hand in greeting. "Hi, Sarah!" he smiles. "Trouble in your 'hood today?" Sarah looks around "Sure looks like it. It's really odd, I mean why would a SWAT teem raid a bakery? Did they have a doughnut craving?" Goldie says half-jokingly, "Well, didn't either fo you to ever wonder why the regulars -always- went there for their coffee? Maybe there was something in that muck that there shouldn't have been..." Sarah chuckles "A possibity I suppose." Zach grins. "Yeah, sure. Extra addictive caffeine. New Special Brand. Maybe they had to take out evil terrorist cookies too?" Sarah laughs softly and folds her arms "So, where have you been Zach? Goldie hmms quietly for a moment, letting the other two talk with each other and simply listening for now. Zach shrugs. "Well stranger things have happened and will continue to happen." He smiles to Sarah. "Where I've been? Oh... I've been a short trip to Washington." He winks. "Missed me?" Sarah chuckles "Yep." She flashes him a grin "Did you miss me? Today she is dressed in tight black leather pants that cling to her legs and rear like a second skin. Over it she wears a tight sleeveless red shirt, it's neckline swooping low enough to show off the top of her breasts. The shirt is pulled in even tighter with a black leather belt that wraps around her waist. On her feet at low heeled black leather boots. Goldie seems slightly amused and warns the pair, "If you two start getting more sappy or start making out, I'm gonna fetch a bucket of water..." Sarah smiles at Goldie and chuckles "Belive me, have no fear of that." Zach laughs. "Oh my. I better weigh my words carefully here. Sure I missed you Sarah! And Goldie, you will please note that I haven't touched her. Yet." Sarah winks at Zach "Well we, are in public, we can save the touching...and other things for later I'm sure." Goldie raises an eyebrow and asks Sarah, "You sure I shouldn't leave you both alone...? I know where you can rent a room for the night real cheap" Sarah grins "How thoughtful of you Goldie, but my place is close by." Zach chuckles. "Don't worry Goldie. We're quite ok." Goldie smirks faintly, but refrains for any further sallies on this topic. Sarah says, "How was Washington." Zach shrugs faintly. "DC was pleasant enough. But I kinda missed KC." Sarah nods "I hear that the capitol is horrible in the summer. Well, not that here is much better." Goldie grumbles quietly, "Tell me about it..." Sarah nods "How people lived here without AC I'll never know." Zach smiles. "Yeah. Too hot and too stuffy. Although Some People, whom I will not name to protect Goldie, might make things just a wee bit harder on themselves by insisting to wear thick clothes at all times." Sarah eyes Goldie's coat "Well yes, there is that." Goldie barely refrains from glaring at Zach, instead restraining herself to a single annoyed glance before saying, "I prefer to be a little uncomfortable most of the time than hurting for a short ammount of time. Whenever I wear short sleeves it seems like I end up losing strips of my skin so I like to have something between my arms and the world...." Zach nods and smiles. "That's a point. One tends to be quite attached to one's skin." Sarah blinks "What do you do that peels your skin off...sunscreen is quite inexpenive you know." Goldie shakes her head, "It isn't sunburn, I just seems to have far too many problems with concrete and such like by accident. Bruises are one thing, but having your shoulder scrape along the ground means that you want something thick between you and losing some of your skin." Sarah nods "Still, you need a heavy coat for that? I mean sunstroke can be a serious problem. You say, "As long as you drink enough water..." Goldie smiles, "Plenty of places to duck into whcih have air conditioning if I start to feel faint. I'm kinda used to it now, but I still don't want to be standing out in direct sunlight." Zach hehs. "Nobody wants to stand out during high sun. Except mad dogs and englishmen." Sarah needs to head out Zach hugs. Take care! :) Goldie waves, "Bye then." Sarah looks over at her shop "Well looks like the exitment is over, so I shoul dhead back to my shop. Sarah waves! "later all Zach smiles to Sarah. "See you later, doll." Sarah has disconnected. Goldie hmms quietly, glancing around, "Actually, I should be heading off in a while as well..." Zach glances after Sarah as she walks away, a small shade crossing his eyes. "You up to anything fun today G?" he asks as his attention turns back to Goldie. Goldie shakes her head, "Not just at the moment, just a few things I need ta get done sooner or later." Zach nods and smiles softly. "Yeah. We have that small piece of sabotage we were talking about..." Goldie raises an eyebrow at that, brushing a stray strand of hair away from her face and glancing at the remaining cops, "There somewhere else you want to talk about this?" Zach flicks a small smile. "Yeah, let's move. We can go to a park or we can nip over to my place? Whichever you prefer." Goldie says without much stress, "The park would be better." You say, "Sure. C'mon - I have my car over at the parking lot." Zach starts to walk. Zach says, "Assuming Goldie agrees to hitch a ride, the trip goes to Swope park.:)" Goldie hesitates for a moment then follows along behind Zach, using his 'wake' through the crowd to help keep up with him. You take 85th back East, navigate a tangle of intersections onto Blue River Road, and end up at the southern edge of Swope Park. Swope Park -- South Side A huge expanse of grass and trees and rolling hills, the southern half of Swope Park -- everything south of Gregory Boulevard -- contains golf fairways, a lake, nature centers, and hundreds of access roads covering hundreds of acres. It is easy, however, to lose sight of the individual details in a swath of greenery and urban landscaping this big, requiring one to refocus on those things lest they be lost. In this refocussing, other things become clear: like all big urban park projects, Swope is not entirely paradise. Some trails are less well lit than others, and certain patches of grass clearly bear the marks of abuse. There are clusters of park less heavily patrolled by the police as they pass through, and here gangs of juvenile delinquents gather after hours, passing around their beer and baggies. Even by day, some parts are less than safe, so perhaps it's better to stay focussed on the big picture, look past the problems, stick to the well-lit paths, and enjoy the thin veneer of suburbia before the cracks enlarge too much to be ignored. Zach parks the big, yellow towtruck on a suitable place and wanders into the park to find a bench they can sit on. Goldie just looked at you. Goldie again follows Zach, keeping further away from him now that they are away from the crowd in the open. When Zach finally does locate a bench for them to share, she sits down at the opposite end from him with her arms folded as she asks, "So...?" Zach tilts his head and gazes at Goldie. "So.. When are we going to give the little missy a slap across her warderobe?" Goldie gave a slow grin at that question, "That depends on when would be best for it. The morning that she is at school when there is a prom or something special like that for the evening would probably be better than a random day..." Zach thinks about this. "Yeah.. That'd been real good. But I think it's a bit too long to wait for the prom. Maybe they'll have some party on this fall. And not in too long a time. She /really/ needs a lesson and soon." Goldie nods a little, "Well, there is obvious and then there is a little more subtle... Concidering who we are talking about would she even notice if all her underwear went missing, for instance?" She ginned slightly at that, her expression more than a little malicious. Zach hmphs and wrinkles his nose in disgust. "Her undies are tools of her trade. She'd notice all right. Unfortunately she's probably loaded enough to be able to replace them in no time." Goldie hmms quietly, concidering the problem, "I can't remember if I got the name right, but do you know about 'methyl butane'? Ths skunk stink?" Zach thinks a bit then a slow smile starts spreading over his face. "Oohhh... Oh, oh, oh! Oho!" He snickers. "Now /that's/ what I call a truly inspired idea! I bet the recepie can be found on the internet or in a chemistry book." Goldie nods as Zach becomes enlightened to the thought, "It'd be tricky to do without getting any on myself, but a drop of the diluted stuff on each dress and a little on some other stuff would mean that -nobody- would want to wear them again." Zach nods. "A carefully prepared spraycan might do the trick. I suspect that the trickiest part would be to get into her appartment, though. She's got a pretty fancy door and lock if I recall right." Goldie looks rather interested at that comment, almost challenged by it, "What type she got there again? And where's her appartment?" Zach frowns slightly while trying to recall things. "Her flat is upstairs from Ada's. The place Hachi and I took you when you had a bust arm. Don't recall what kinda lock she's got, but I looked pretty solid. There is almost certainly an alarm too." You say, "We could slip up there and take a look if you want? Or I'll sneak a peek next time I visit Ada?" Goldie nodded slowly, frowning as she thinks for a while, "Actually, that kind brings to mind another easy way to cause her hastle. If her alarm starts going off at seemingly random times of the day and night she'll not be a happy bunny and eventually just leave it off entirely." Goldie pages: Do you think that she would appreciate having the cops repeatedly turn up to check if everything was alright with her? ^_- Zach grins. "Neighbours'll object too. You any handy with electronics?" Long distance to Goldie: Zach laughs!! I LOVE YOU!! :) :) From afar, Goldie grins, "Thank you..." Goldie hmms, shaking her head, "Only enough to know what to do with alarm systems. My... eductaion was kinda specialised." Zach smiles brightly. "Sounds like you have just the needed expertise. Me, I'm only good with mechanical locks. The electronic stuff's mostly beyond me. Now getting something really stinky into her flat should be doable without too much hassle after the alarm system gets funny. If we can't get that stuff you said or even a few live skunks, then butane acid might do the trick." Goldie nodded, "I still think that triggering a couple of false alarms for her shoudl do as a start whil we get other things arranged." She makes a face, "Live skunks are something I'm kinda lerry of though, they can change which way they're aiming far too easily..." Zach nods ruefully. "Don't I know it. Those little critters are tricky, but they might just be possible to trap and move. Although those'd be mostly for pure terror and cinematic effect. Chamicals on bottles are far more effective. I agree with you - we should start with the eletronics. But do you need to actually get into the flat to get at them?" Goldie gave a firm nod, "Well, to actually do something to them I do. If you can find out what sort of model alarm she's got then I can go look it up and see what else can be done." Zach hmms. "I'll certainly see what I can do. I might be able to find something out." Goldie nodded once more, "Well, if you can find out in the next couple of days I'll get back to you about it. That okay with you?" Zach grins. "Sure. I'm quite looking forward to this. She's gone unopposed for far too long." Zach rises. "Can I give you a lift anywhere?" Goldie shook her head, "Naw, I'll stay here for a while then wander off to do what I need to. See you some other time then..." Zach nods and smiles warmly. "Take care, then Goldie. See ya soon." Goldie waves, remaining on the bench and refolding her arms. Her gaze turns away from Zach, glancing over at the other people wandeirng the park this afternoon. [Zach makes his way back to Crown Centre] You see a short, stocky middle-aged man. His hair is dark brown and short, and his skin is pasty. His twitching blue eyes search the world. He's wearing a baggy black polo shirt, along with baggy navy blue pants and black cross-training shoes. In general, he seems depressed. Harriet is a woman in her early twenties. She's below average in height, and thin and pale, as if she doesn't get out much. She has short-cropped, unruly, dark brown hair, and green eyes. Her round, open face seems as if it's used to doing a lot of smiling. A pair of gold-rimmed glasses perch--slightly askew--on her nose. Harriet is dressed in a mutton-sleeved 'pirate' shirt of cream silk, a bright vest of patchwork cloth, and an ankle-length skirt of the same colorful material as the vest. Instead of her normal sneakers, today she's wearing ankle boots of supple, black suede. A gold and enamel butterfly is pinned precariously to her hair, just above her left ear. Harriet walks close enough to see the mess, shakes her head, and finds a bench nearby where she can sketch the frenetic activity. Zach comes strolling up the road and takes a look at the busy people, scratching his head. He looks around and spots the sketcher who looks somewhat familiar. He walks slowly in Harriet's direction. Harriet looks up from the sketch, and notices Zach approaching. She gives him the vague 'I think I should remember you but I don't, so I'll pretend' smile that usually gets passed around at cocktail parties. By now the police crowd has mostly dispersed. Just a few cops remain to maintain the integrity of the 'crime scene'. The HazMat crews are mostly gone, leaving only gossip in their wake. THose who have heard the most recent news reports know that FEMA, the EPA, the FDA, and several other federal agencies are involved, and that the Sweet Delights management has been arrested for "health code violations crossing over into criminal negligence." By now, rumors are everywhere -- anthrax, botulism, HIV, and even top secret 'super-germs' are all among the whispers. Willie happens to be passing by as well. Like so many others, he loves to watch an incident in progress. Being rather short, he keeps trying to push past people to get a good view of the scene. Zach smiles back and then the sparkle in his eyes reveal that recognition has set in for real. He comes over to stand in front of her, gazing warmly down on her. "Harriet Davis, isn't it? We met a week ago here, during an embarrasong episode with my sister and two other teenage girls.. Sarah introduced us?" Willie tries to get in on the crowd's gossip. "Super-germs? Really? Was it in the air or just in the food? I ate there the other day. Should I go to a doctor?" he asks his various neighbors, sounding quite concerned. Harriet's eyes widen as recognition settles in, and she grins. "Oh, yes! Hello." She stands up, tucks the pad under one arm, and offers her hand. "It's a pleasure to see you again. I was just trying to justify my curiosity." One kid -- clearly a movie theater employee on a smoke break -- points out helpflly, to Willie, that the feds are sending info to local hospitals on what to watch for. "So I guess they figure you'll go if you need to." Zach shakes her hand readily and smiles broadly. "Me too. This whole thing is just weird." Lucian arrives along Oak, and makes his way into the Crown Center. Harriet nods. "I wonder what happened? I didn't think there were too many things that you could do to coffee and chocolate, in the first place, you know?" She peers at the remaining cops, then sighs. Willie agrees, "Well, yeah, but..." He looks around at everything and coughs. First it's just a little one, covered by his hand, but soon it erupts into a full-blown coughing fit, which his hand cannot hope to contain. Lucian returns to this portion of Crown Center, looking furtive. Zach looks around at the people. "Yeah... If it were terrorists I'd think that a chockolate factory would be a better target. But who knows. Lots of potential custommers in a place this big." He spots white hair and eyes Lucian. Lucian is wearing a simple black suit. It is neatly tailored, with mother-of-pearl cufflinks and a simple silver tie clip, with a faint engraved design of a serpent on it. His lapel pin is a simple, silver circle, with a bit of polish to it. Again, there's a faint embossing on it, which if you examine closely can be seen to be a serpent coiled around a staff, rearing to strike. Harriet frowns. "Terrorists? Surely not?" She shakes her head. Following Zach's gaze, she sees Lucian and smiles and waves. Lucian spots the wave, and smiles, as he waves to Harriet. The smile rapidly begins falling from his face as he sees Zach standing next to her, and he makes a beeline towards the pair. His long legs eat up the concrete space rapidly as he draws near. Willie recovers from the coughing and murmurs apologies to those around him. He seems fine for a few moments, then apparently has a dizzy spell and falls heavily against one of the people near him. He catches himself on the man's shoulder and uses the man for support while Willie starts to cough again. The man Willie leans against freaks out a bit, "Hey, get offa me!" Willie coughs right in the man's face, then rights himself and mumbles an apology. "Sorry, buddy. I'm just feeling really weird right now." He turns around to face someone else and coughs on them too, again followed by an apology. Zach relaxes into a slow sardonic smile as Lucian nears. There's a small glitter in his eyes. He raises an eyebrow slightly as he glances over toward the coughing man, then looks back at Lucian. To Harriet he says: "I hope not. But they say the FEMA was involved." Harriet grimaces. "Maybe they're just being careful," she says hopefully. As Lucian draws near, she smiles up at him, but her attention is caught by Willie. "I wonder if he needs any help? He looks kind of sick." Lucian closes at last with Zach and Harriet. "Harriet, my dear." His return smile is warm, friendly. "This is a most welcome pleasure tonight, I must say." He glances towards Zach, and for one brief second a flash of... something very unpleasant... crosses his face. The uncharitable would even call it murderous. As he returns his attention to Harriet, the smile returns as well. By now, folks are moving out of Willie's way. Some of them are cursing at him. Some seem worried, but wary. Willie folds his arms over his chest, hugging himself. "Does it seem chilly to you?" he asks some other random person, rubbing his upper arms for warmth. Coughing again, he walks slowly around in a circle, making more room for himself in the crowd. Zach smiles pleasantly enough to Lucian, although there is something vaguely preadatory about the smile. "Good evening, pro." His eyes trail over the professor's outfit. "Nice tie clip..." He looks over toward Willie, and frowns somewhat. "That don't look too good..." Harriet says without looking away from Willie, "Good evening, Lucian. Have you met Zach?" She doesn't wait for an answer, but squares her shoulders and marches towards Willie with a determined expression. "Excuse me, sir? Are you alright?" she calls warily to him. Willie makes his way closer to the line of cops maintaining control over the scene. "Sir? Sir?" he croaks, in between coughs. The cop holds up a hand in warning, the other loosely held somewhere near his firearm. "Back away from the cordon, mister." He looks deadly serious. Lucian watches Harriet march away, and flashes a look to Zach that the even the CHARITABLE would call murderous. He hisses something, and it's in a distinctly foreign tongue. Most wouldn't recognize it. Indeed, it's doubtful Zach understands it. However, the rather vicious, brutal intent of the tone can be clearly heard. Willie steps closer, still coughing. "I think--" he manages to say, before being caught up in another coughing fit. This one has him doubled over, coughing unproductively and making quite a scene. You paged Lucian with 'I take it my ears hurt..? :)'. Lucian pages: Oh yes. The cop repeats his order, and now his hand is on his gun. "If you require medical assistance, sir, say so, but do not take one step closer to the cordon or I am authorized to use force to clear the area." Harriet says, "Oh, for heaven's sake," in a low voice, and walks quickly to Willie. She places her hand on his shoulder, and in a soft voice, says, "Come over here, sir, to the bench. Sit down, and I'll find you a glass of water. Then we can call the doctor if you don't feel better, okay?"" Zach meets Lucian's glare unflinchingly with blazing, cold eyes. His smile is all razorsharp edges as he quietly answers Lucian. Willie straightens up to respond to the cop, but is interrupted by Harriet's hand on his shoulder. He turns, startled. "Wha--" is all he can say before being shaken by another coughing fit. He turns back to the cop and says quickly, "I think I need to see someone," before coughing again. Zach mutters to Lucian, "Ain't... when... unintelligably language..." You whisper "Ain't much use in threats when you use broken, unintelligably language worm-boy." to Lucian. Lucian hisses a reply. He mutters to Zach, "I... language lessons as... I... from... continued..." You sense Lucian hisses a reply. "I shall give you language lessons as bit by bit, I peel your Forces from you like the skin of an onion. Flee now, and I may consider permitting your continued existence." The cop says "Markham, call an ambulance for this gentleman," without turning away. Harriet nods approvingly at the officer, then turns to Willie again. "Sir, why don't you sit down on the bench until it comes? You might feel a little better..." She shifts nervously from foot to foot as she stares at him. Zach's nostrils flare and he straightens imperceptivly. Willie nods and goes with Harriet. "OK, until I can see a doctor," he agrees, followed by more coughing as he goes to the bench in question. Zach mutters to Lucian, "... well, well... tied... a knot, old... I... for.... being... elegant... all..." You whisper "Well, well, well... Seems you've got your tail tied up in a knot, old boy. I wonder what for. You're not being very elegant now at all..." to Lucian. Lucian glares at Zach wordlessly, lips pressed together. Harriet sighs in obvious relief, and helps Willie to the bench. She fishes a paint-stained hankerchief out of a pocket of her skirt and hands it to him with a smile. "Here, this might help with the coughing," She looks him up and down. "My name's Harriet, sir. And you are?" Zach throws a quick, measured glance in the direction of Seet Delights before returning all of his attention to Lucian. A very, very slight smile plays in a corner of his mouth. Again he says something softly to the professor. After a short while, the siren of the ambulance can be heard. Zach mutters to Lucian, "... afraid... some saliva... foam... good." You whisper "I'm afraid you've spilt some saliva or foam on your tie, pro. Not good." to Lucian. Lucian clenches one hand into a white-knuckled fist, and with a hiss, turns and stalks towards Harriet. Somewhere along the way, he relaxes. A smile crosses his face. He seems almost chipper and cheerful as he draws near. Willie holds the cloth to his face as he continues to cough. He has to try three times before he can get out, "Willie. Am I going to die? What's going on?" Harriet looks up at Lucian with a puzzled smile before answering. "No, of course you're not going to die." She pats his hand reassuringly. "You're going to be just fine, I'm sure of it." Zach bows his head hiding a nasty smile. He stays where he is for the moment taking in the rest of the goings-on, but also keeping an eye on the Suited One. Lucian flashes a smile. "The gentleman is unwell?" He frowns slightly. "Is there anything I can do?" After another minute or two, the EMTs come up a side causeway from an emergency exit, hustling over. Harriet stands up and nods to the EMTs. "I think they can handle it, now." She gives Willie another bright smile. "That was fast," she says, "and I'm sure they'll take care of you. She walks over out of the way to stand next to Lucian. Willie keeps on coughing. He looks relieved once the EMTs head over to him. He tells them, "I just ate at this place yesterday, and now..." Once again, he is interrupted by a coughing fit. Lucian smiles, and nods. "Of course." He pats her on the shoulder comfortingly. Harriet sighs and shakes her head. "What a mess this all is." Zach wanders over to stand with Harriet and Lucian, eyeing Willie with a small frown. He asks the EMTs: "What sorta nastyness could we have been subjected to in there?" He nods toward the sweetshop. "This looks real bad." The EMT nearest Zach says "We just haul 'em in to the hospital, buddy. THe doctors are the ones getting the info." Willie gets unsteadily to his feet and goes with the EMTs, if they want to take him away for medical attention. They do, in fact. "Easy, buddy," says one. "We've got you. What's the trouble?" They let Willie describe his symptoms at *great* length as they escort him off. Lucian nods towards Harriet. "I agree," he says. "Perhaps we could find someplace quiet and, perhaps," he adds with a hint of a smile, "Private?" Willie tells them about it as they lead him away. Zach nods and keeps frowning. Harriet frowns a little. "I hope he'll be okay..." She doesn't seem to be listening to anything on the outside of her own head at the moment. Zach tilts his head and smiles a small smile to Harriet. "I'm sure he'll be fine once they get him to the hospital, Harriet. they'll fix him up good." AutoJudge: Willie rolls: 2 + 1 = 3 . Check die: 4 Lucian nods his head. "Quite probably," he says simply. Harriet startles, and looks at both of the men. "What? I'm sorry...I wasn't really listening." She, at least, has the decency to look mildly embarassed. Zach is starting to fall asleep over his keyboard. Will go to bed shortly. <:| From afar, Fidelity places pillow on your keyboard. Willie steps OOC, having gone to the hospital. :) Willie has left. Harriet says, "Awww. You will be missed. :)" Zach chuckles. "No problem. We weren't being all that interesting." Lucian chuckles as well. "Speak for yourself, Mister Ellis," he says, eyebrow arched. Harriet smiles and rolls her eyes. "I'm sure that's not true for either of you. I was just remembering, though," she says with a furrow in her brow, "I thought I saw Sarah talking to the police this afternoon, when things were crazy. Have either of you seen her, today?" The cops continue to move curious passersby along. Folks who keep a safe distance ar, frankly, let alone ,though. Zach nods. "Yeah, I spoke to her a few hours ago just after most of the action was over. She went back to her shop afterwards." Lucian nods his head. "Indeed. Miss Roberts is doing quite well, when last I spoke to her," he remarks. Harriet smiles with relief. "That's good." She turns away from the cordon and grimaces. "Now, assuming we don't all catch some dread disease and die, I suppose it only is left to wonder where else in the city serves a decent...and safe...cup of coffee." Lucian nods, a mournful look on his face. "I wonder this myself," he says with a sigh. Zach shrugs. "I guess we'll have to brew our own coffee." Harriet sighs mournfully. "I still haven't found my coffeemaker." Zach looks curiously at Harriet. "I thought that was the first thing you unpacked?" He smiles and shifts his stance. Harriet sighs. "I thought it was. Turns out the box actually had some extremely ugly porcelin figurines. I'm now looking for the box marked 'Do Not Open--Ever'. No luck, so far." Lucian chuckles. "Perhaps a new one can be acquired. I know there are a few all-night shops about that sell various things... Wal-Mart and the like. Perhaps even some tolerable coffee could be found there." Zach grins. "Yeah. Well, I gotta split. Nice to see you again, Harriet. I hope you get your coffee situation solved soon." He nods curtly to Lucian. "Professor," he says in almost the same tone as Seinfeld used to greet Newman with. Harriet smiles at Lucian, and nods at Zach. "Thanks. It was good to see you again, too. Hopefully the next time will be under better circumstances."" You paged Fidelity with 'I'll take a short phonecall to the Traders to hear if anyone ther knows something about the raid that they are willing to share. :)'. Lucian nods sharply in reply to Zach. "Mister Ellis. Travel safely. Mind your hand." A sudden flash of teeth. Fidelity pages: Step offscreen a bit, then, or is this while you, the player, are sleeping? Zach nods to Harriet. "Ditto. Take care now, ma'am. And remember to stock up on lozengers, pro. I hear the local weather prophets divine a cold winter. See ya, folks." He smiles, waves and saunters off. You head North on Oak. You paged Fidelity with 'It's fairly soon, after Zach has driven away from Crown Center and found a reasonably safe-looking payphone. :)'. Fidelity pages: Alright. From afar, Fidelity | "Bo Ling's." Long distance to Fidelity: Zach coughs. Player needs a name to ask for... :P I assume Zach would know at least one.. Fidelity pages: 'Tu Chin' was the last PC Seneschal. You paged Fidelity with 'Hello, Zach Ellis here. Can I speak to Tu Chin please?'. From afar, Fidelity | "A moment." And then "Tu Chin?" You paged Fidelity with 'Good evening. I go by Zach Ellis. I was there with Duke a couple of months back...?'. From afar, Fidelity | "Yes, I remember you. What can I do for you?" Long distance to Fidelity: Zach clears his throat and lowers his voice. "I was wondering if your organizarion knows anything about the thing that went down in Crown Center today?" From afar, Fidelity | "We are aware of the raid, but the only forthcoming information we have is that of a Trichinosis alert." You paged Fidelity with 'Right. So it seems to be a...mundane thing then?"'. From afar, Fidelity | "We are not sure. Frankly, either way, it is not a pleasant situation." Long distance to Fidelity: Zach agrees. "Yeah, true. Well if there's anything I can do, just contact me. You have my number. Oh - and the professor was /very/ upset about the raid for whatever reason. He's becoming a bit unhinged I think..." The smirk can be heard.:) (Zach reported Lucian to the Tether between 11th and 18th August.) You paged Fidelity with 'If the Seneschal has anything more to say, please @mail it to me. I /have to/ get to bed now, while I'm still awake enough to remember the way..:)'.
