Logfile from Brass&Steel. B.J.'s Lawnside B-B-Q -- Parking Lot Lucian comes into the lot from the street. Zach strides in from the parkinglot and smiles hugely upon seeing Sarah. "Hey honey! Fancy meeting such a pretty lady here. I guess 'lucky' is my middle name!" Sarah has parked her car and is sauntering towards the restuarant. Sarah grins at Zach "Hey there sweetie, how is it going? Zach offers his arm to Sarah with a smile. "It's going great, doll! How 'bout yerself?" He kisses her on the cheek. Sarah takes the offered arm with a smile "Pretty good. Enjoying the weekend." Emerging from a different direction in the parking lot, Lucian draws himself up and raises an eyebrow at Zach and Sarah. "Why, good evening, Mister Ellis, Miss Roberts..." He smiles broadly. Zach leads his lady toward the enterance and stops upon being hailed by the Professor. "Howdy Professor Szabo! Have you too developed a craving for the finest BBQ in town?" Sarah greets Lucian with a wave "Good evening yourself Professor. How are you enjoying the weekend?" "Why, yes, Mister Ellis. It is a... unique pleasure," Lucian replies. With a smile to Sarah, he replies, "It's been... a weekend," he says with an affected shrug. You say, "Shall we go inside?" Sarah nods "Yes, certantly. I'm hungry." She smiles at at Lucian "Care to join us?" Lucian nods. "What a kind invitation," he replies. "Let us go in," he says, gesturing towards the door. B.J.'s Lawnside B-B-Q -- Dining Room and Stage Zach leads Sarah and Lucian over to table 3 whitch is conveniently and surprisingly empty. Zach gallantly drags out a chair for the lady. Sarah chuckles and sits down Lucian sits down, with barely a glance at Sarah or Zach. Zach makes sure Sarah sits comfortably before he lowers himself onto a chair. A Waiter bustles over with three menues. Sarah accepts the menu with a smile and opens it, saying to Lucian as she does "I didn't know you liked BBQ." "There is a great deal you likely do not know about me," Lucian replies with a smile. Zach chuckles softly. "I'll bet. You Europeans are always so full of mystery." His eyes twinkle teasingly. Sarah chuckles "That is true I admit Lucian." She winks at him "Perhaps I'll find out more someday." Lucian smiles, enigmatically. "Perhaps," he replies evenly. "Perhaps the same will be true of you, hm?" Sarah nods "I dare say." She looks down at her menu "So what looks good tonight." Zach is scrutinizing his menu with the focused concentration of a connosseur. "T-bone with the extra spicy tec-mex sauce, I think. Hmm... Yup." He closes the menu and waits for the waiter. Lucian shrugs, and simply says, "Ribs." Sarah gives the menu another look and closes it "Baby back ribs and a baked pototo Their water sees the closed menus and comes over to their table to take the orders. Sarah gives her order and turns to Zach "So what have you been up too latly." She winks at him "Want to come over for dinner sometime soon?" Zach smiles warmly back to Sarah. "I wouldn't mind that at all, hon. Maybe we can co-operate on a monster wok, eh? That'd be fun!" Sarah nods "Yeah, that sounds great. What do you like to cook?" "Ribs. A very large plate. No, no need for sides," Lucian demurrs, and hands his menu to the waiter. Looking at the pair, he raises his eyebrows. "You cook, Mister Ellis?" Zach considers and nods to Lucian. "Well yes. I cook whatever I feel like at the time, really. I haven't yet met any food that I wouldn't or couldn't eat. Of course, I don't get to do it very often, but that comes with being a bit of a dirifter. Do you like seafood, Sarah?" Sarah nods "Yep. I love swordfish. How about you? Zach smiles. "I'm rather fond of fish and shellfish. So maybe we'll do a marine wok?" Sarah chuckles "Sounds good." She glances at Lucian "How about you? Do you cook?" Lucian shakes his head. "I confess, it is not my normal cuisine." Sarah nods "Normaly go out to eat then? "Quite," Lucian replies. Zach relaxes back on his chair. "So Professor.. I've been mening to ask you - what are your subjects?" Sarah needs to take off, sorry :< Just assume I'm here and being quiet. Zach says, "Aww..." Sarah will be back in a few hours. Sarah waves Lucian smiles, and spreads his hands. "English literature. Such a... fascinating language, really. And such things as have been produced in it!" He shakes his head. "It is all quite fascinating, really. Camus, Sinclair, Chomsky..." He smiles, leaning back in his chair. Zach scratches his head. "Camus? I thought he was French?" Lucian nods in reply. "But the translation, as a basis for American existentialism, it has to be read at the outset. The Stranger, The Rebel... Sisyphus." He nods emphatically about Sisyphus. Zach sips his beer. "Ah, ok. I haven't actually read any of his. What's it about?" "The sheer, instinctive need of mankind to rebel when conditions are intolerable," Lucian says. "In the face of oppression, one must rebel..." He smiles. "But in rebelling, you become what it is you rebel against." He spreads his hands widely. "A sad truism. Man must rebel against injustice, but in rebelling, his actions will undoubtedly be unjust." Zach quirks an eyebrow. "Really? So he's basically saying that a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, even though it will always be futile? Sounds kinda depressing." Lucian shrugs. "Some would argue that existence is, by default, depressing. Others would argue that Camus is wrong." He smiles, broadly. "And THAT is when class gets interesting, I assure you." Zach smiles equally broadly. "I'll bet. Such discussions can get rather heated, and that's good. Especially those times someone drops a 'bomb' that has everybody jumping." Lucian nods in agreement. "That is what education is about. Vigorous discussion. The questioning process," he nods emphatically. Zach stretches his legs. "So do you have any special talents in your class this year? That special someone who manage to put a new spin on the old geezers like Camus and Chomsky and turn'em upside down?" Lucian smiles. "I am hoping that I will," he says. "Classes will not begin for a little bit longer while, yet." Zach nods. "Ah right. So you don't teach summer courses then." Lucian shakes his head. "Not this summer, nu." Their food arrives and is deposited on the table. It smells delicious. Zach beams down on his T-bone and start eating as soon as the waiter has left. Zach gestures with his fork. "So how long have you been in the states, then Professor?" Lucian tears into the ribs with gusto. "Mmmphrm, mmmphrm," he says, gesturing with one finger already being covered in barbecue sauce. Zach mumbles between chews: "'scuse me?" Lucian nods in reply, and gestures with one well-picked rib bone. Zach cheerfully spears some meat on his fork and mops up saucy goodness with it. He continues the meal in silence, while occationally flirting with Sarah. Lucian chews, picking the ribs completely clean of every last fleck of meat. He then stacks them neatly to one side. He watches their interaction, occasionally rolling his eyes as if amused at their flirtations. Zach mops up pthe last of the sauce with the last of the meat, gobbles it down and pushes his plate away contentedly. "Aahhh... That was delicious." He relaxes completely back on his chair and sighs happily. Lucian nods, reaching for the wetnaps to wipe his face and hands down thoroughly. He nods in agreement. Zach focuses his now somewhat relaxed and almost sleepy attention on Lucian, green eyes intent. "So, do you do ther stuff that teaching philosophy, or is that you life's work as it were?" Zach says, "Resonating. I belive we're within 1 yard of each other, which gives me a +1 on the CD(?)" AutoJudge: Zach rolls: 3 + 2 = 5 . Check die: 6 Zach says, "Woah!" You paged Lucian with 'Ok... 3 most noble AND ignoble deeds done during the last year (according to your own code), most noble AND most ignoble deed ever done, greatest height and depth possible in the symphony and are you a balseraph? :)'. You paged Lucian with 'Oh. And most noble and ignoble deed during the last week according to you own standards.:)'. Lucian pages: Oh, christ. You're a Malakite. Lucian pages: Either way, CD 6 gets you this, first off: Sinkhole of utter, absolute, Demonic, serpentine selfishness. Congratulations, sir. You just had dinner with a Balseraph. Zach's eyes turn cold all of a sudden and his relaxation all of a sudden seems a bit...forced... Lucian pages: Following THAT up... hmm. I always had trouble with this, when it applied for demons... I mean, does a Demon's moral code mean actions he took that benefited him were "noble?" You paged Lucian with 'Well, I guess you just have to define what you IC feel to be right and wrong, basically. For a bal, that can naturally vary, but most will have some sort of code even if warped. So try using 'right' in stead of noble?'. You paged Lucian with 'Acts benefitting his agenda, would be right. Acts going against his ageda or beliefes would be wrong.'. You paged Lucian with 'And I really, really recommend making cnotes for this kinda thing. It certainly helped me a lot in defining stuff about myself. Even if it was a pain in the...neveryoumind:)'. Lucian pages: Hmm. All right. In THAT case... his most ignoble deed of this past year was to force two individuals to fall in love... and NOT break them up. His most noble deed was instigating a loud argument in his class that turned physically violent. The most 'noble' deed he ever did was to encourage a number of soldiers to fire upon unarmed protesting students. Lucian pages: (Probably a good idea.) Lucian pages: Hmm. Other 2 best ones this year included attempting to persuade an angel to doubt humanity and Fall and setting up a plot to ruin William Jewell College by setting up a massive scandal involving their security guards overreacting. Zach idly fiddles with his fork, his poise subtly alert. You paged Lucian with 'That was /attempting/ to make an angel Fall, not actually making an angel Fall?'. Lucian pages: Other two most 'ignoble' deeds he's done this past year include giving money to a musician on stage, for no reason other than he enjoyed the tune and he actually helped out a student struggling to pass another English class. Lucian pages: Indeed. He's attempting to make an angel Fall. One gathers he's still at work on it. Zach does not look sleepy at all anymore. Lucian pages: His greatest height? I suppose that he could ultimately redeem - somewhere in all that is a viciously stern taskmaster who can't stand mediocrity in his students, and that COULD be turned to good. His deepest sin? His sheer, unadulterated joy in watching others inflict pain on each other. He's not precisely a sadist, as he is a voyeur of sadism. Zach softly mutters. "Well fuck me sideways and call me a mungoose...." "It is my present vocation, I would have to say. It occupies much of my time -- philosophy, literature. The human condition," Lucian says with a smile that, upon Zach's muttering, seems altogether too forced as well. You say, "Ah yes. That is an endlessly fascinating study. There are so many facets of humanity out there. I don't read much, but I like to think of myself as a student of people too. More hands-on though. Being a mechanic lets me meet all sortsa folks. Although these days I suppose you get a broader spectre of people coming into the universities too.." "Quite a wide variety of students attempt higher education," Lucian says. "Sadly, more attempt it than are truly capable of it." Zach hmms and keeps toying with his fork, jaws strained. "And yet their time in university will not be in vain. Even a drop-out will have learned and experienced something or someone that he or she will carry with her for the rest of that person's life." Lucian waves a hand dismissively. "Even so, they shall remain among the have-nots, the uneducated lower classes, likely doomed to poorer-paying jobs and the like." Zach pushes his napkin around on the table with his fork. "Doomed? Have-nots? They might just end up far richer than most intelligencia. Happyness and sheer joy of living can be found in all layers of society, professor Szabo." "Only so long as they retain blinders," Lucian retorts. "The masses are kept well-opiated, as perhaps Marx might have written. If they find joy, it is only through refusing to acknowledge their own situations." You say, "Really? There is joy in sheer living, and all people live. Those who wear blinders however, tend to live poorer lives that hose who do not. And you don't need a degree to get rid of that kind of blinders. In fact - a degree might just offer you a new and improved set of blinders...." You say, "Have you ever been to Africa, Professor? Have you ever seen when they dance?" "No," Lucian replies, with a hint of condescension. "I suspect you're about to tell me about it, nu?" Lucian says, "It's a pity Sarah's not here... it'd be interesting to see her side of this debate." Zach smiles slowly. "It's difficult to describe joy and celebration of life in mere words, professor. I guess you just have to experience it for yourself. I have often found when getting to know folks that the ones with the harder, longer days of work seems to display a purer, more energetic joy and whatdoyoucallit... exuberance? than the more 'sophisticated' among us. Strange that, but so is humanity." Zach nods:) "On that, Mister Ellis, you have my most wholehearted agreement," Lucian says with a nod. His eyes flicker towards Zach's fork, with a momentary twitch of an eyebrow. As the waiter comes to collect the empty plates, Zach deftly hides the fork under his forarm that rests on the table. When the waiter has left, the fork comes out again and keeps on worrying the napkin. Lucian frowns slightly. "Growing attached to that bit of silverware, I take it?" Zach smiles a bit more. "It's a nice fork." He idly twirls it with his fingers. "One of the things I find most fascinating is the human capacity for whimsy. Just when you think you know a man, he goes out and does something totally out of character. Like, say, a real hard-ass math teacher that is the bane and scourge of his class, and then out of the blue he suddently helps one of his struggeling students enough to get her through the exam. " You say, "Whimsy, but in that one act that teacher has touched a student's life in a good way." "It has been my finding, Mister Ellis," Lucian says, voice tight, "That sometimes, when confronted with a troublesome student, that all it takes is a small push to get what you have desired from them." Zach quirks a smile maybe just a hint predatory-ish, maybe not. "And how do you define troublesome, professor?" Lucian shrugs. "Inattentive. Difficult. You know the sort." He waves a hand. "The ones who would far rather sleep their way through class than take an interest in it." You say, "Hm. And the ones who earnestly work hard, but still struggle?" Lucian shrugs. "Then they can not keep up," he says, consigning them to the dustbin of history with a flick of a carefully-manicured hand. You say, "SO you have never succumbed to whimsy then, professor?" "Haven't we all? At some point, have we not done something... simply because we wanted to?" Lucian shrugs. "No higher motive, no grand plan, merely indulgence in the whim of a moment?" Sarah waves Lucian says, "Hiya! :) We've been having a lovely debate here... :)" Sarah grins Sarah says, "what about?" Lucian says, "Humanity. Whimsy. Capabilities of humans. Literature." Zach nods. "Yes, and by doing so, we make ripples. Especially if the action touches another human being. You being a teacher get to touch so many people during you career... It's a great responsibility and a privilege. And your whimsys might have a far greater impact than youo could ever foresee. And that's a wonderful thing." Sarah looks up from her food "But what about bad teachers? The ones that make you hate school." Zach idly scratches his cheek with the handle of his fork. "Funny thing is... Even lousy, rotten teachers can have that one moment of brightness and...I dunno...sheer /click/," he snaps his fingers, "that make their whole existence worthwhile. But the price might not be worth it even so." "The price?" Lucian raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean, Mister Ellis?" Sarah raises an eyebrow at Zach "You have a good option of mankind don't you Zach. I dunno though. I'm not sure if bad teachers ever have a moment of brillance." Zach purses his lips somewhat. "The price of young minds turned away from a certain subject because of the bad teacher. The price of young people leaving school wowing never to go back again and pricing themselves lucky to be done with the torture. Bad teachers do the most damage with the youngest kids, I suppose. And I didn't say that all bad teachers get a moment of brilliance, I said that they /can/ get that. For many it sadly never happens." Sarah says, "For most I would say rather."" Zach smiles fondly to Sarah. "Have you experenced most bad teachers? I haven't so I don't know how big the ratio is." Sarah laughs "Well not most, but some of my teachers we're pretty bad yeah." Lucian shrugs. "Who hasn't had such?" He waves his hands around dismissively. "It is a peril of being educated." Zach smiles. "Indeed. And people prevail. The human spirit can be extremely resilient." Sarah nods "Well not always." She glances at Lucian, an amused look on her face for some reason." You paged Sarah with 'You might have noticed a few moments of tenseness in Zach some 15-20 minutes (gametime) back. There seemed to be some sort of less-than-friendly feelings between him and Lucian, but they seem to have glossed it over for now. :) (This was while you were offline)'. From afar, Sarah nods "What were you two talking about the time? Sarah pages: at the time :P You paged Sarah with 'Well... Zach was asking if the professor did anything else besides teaching philosophy, the professor answered neutrally enough and Zach went tense and started fiddling with a fork. There was really nothing in their conversation that should have triggered tenseness.'. Zach nods. "Yes, sadly not always." Sarah finaly finishes off her meal and leans back with a sigh of contentment "Well that was good." Lucian shrugs, and remains largely silent. The current time in Kansas City is 9:53 PM, Sun Aug 11, 2002. Zach leans back on his chair and stretches out his legs. "So... Anyone got any interesting plans for the night?" Sarah shakes her head "Nope, not really." She grins at Zach "of course I could always make some." Zach chuckles. "I bet you could. But I'm actually curious... How do you two know each other? He a regular in your shop?" He grins and waggles his eyebrows at Sarah. Sarah laughs softly "No, I'm afraid not." Zach peers at Lucian still grinning. "He'd look wicked in leather though, don't you think?" Sarah seems to be ingoring the question about how they met as she looks Lucian over and grins "I think so. Unfortantly he seems to disagree." Lucian shakes his head. "I can not say that would be my style, nu. Except in patches and vests," he allows. Lucian says, "Much unhappiness. I must go. Work in the morning." Sarah peers at Lucian "I carry vests you know." Sarah nods :< You paged Lucian with 'This is highly OOC: You realise that I'm going to have to try to kill you at some point..:/ I hope it won't be too unfun..'. Zach nods :( Lucian pages: I know. I've been waiting for you to try with that fork, there. :p You paged Lucian with 'Nooo... We're too public:) I need to get you alone, darling:)'. Lucian says, "Shall we put this on hold for another time? Or shall we assume Lucian manages to make his graceful exit?" Sarah says, "we can assume that Lucian makes an exit." Zach says, "Lucian makes a graceful exit, methinks. :)" Zach says, "And it had better be pompous! :)" "Indeed," Lucian says, sliding away from the table. "I am afraid the hour grows late, and I must be going. If you will excuse me? Mister Ellis, Miss Roberts?" He looks between the two, his eyes lingering on the fork Zach is toying with. Zach smiles to Sarah. "Maybe you could design something really /him/ for the professor to wear?" Sarah chuckles "I'll think about. Maybe a nice leather jacket or something. Zach looks up. "Oh, must you leav us so soon profesor. Very well. Have a pleasant night." He smiles a tad coldly and fingers his fork absently. Sarah waves to Lucian "Good night professor. I'll see you around." Lucian says, "Night, guys. :)" Zach says, "Night. Thanks for the rp!" Lucian says, "Much thanks for it as well." Lucian says, "See y'all!" Sarah smiles at Zach "So, what are you doing for the evening? Zach nods to Sarah. "Yes, that would lok good on him. Or a vest... Hm? Oh.." His eyes linger on the professors retreating back. "Oh.. I was planning on haveing a few drinks and just relaxing." Sarah nods and smiles a bit "Want to come over to my place. I have some stuff there." She follows Zach's eyes "Do you have a problem with him or something?" Zach shifts and more or less forcibly relaxes. "Huh? Nah...Well... He is a bit over elitist in his manners and views. It sets my teeth on edge." Sarah nods "Yeah I've notice that he does seem kinda stuck up, but hey what can you do." She moves her chair over closer to Zach and smiles "So, what do you say about coming over to my place." Zach smiles fondly to her. "I say, 'Why thank you kindly, miss.'" Zach takes her hand and squeezes it gently. Sarah laughs and leans in to kiss his cheek "So, ready to go?" Zach nods and produces his wallet. "I see the professor conveniently forgot to pay his bill." He sighs. "Oh well.." And places the correct amount of money on the table. Sarah also pulls out her purse and puts the amount down for her part "Yeah, oh well. I can cover him if you want me too." Sarah looks down at the amount of money and frowns "Hey, I can pay for myself you know." Zach smiles and gently touches her arm. "If you insist. But I don't mind buying you dinner, princess." Sarah smiles at the touch "Well...alright, just this once" She stands and gathers up her things." Zach offers to take her hand as they leave the table. Sarah takes his hand and smiles, heading out Sarah's Apartment -- Living Room(#18RJn) Sarah lets them and smiles at Zach "So, what would you like to drink? I have a decent selection." Zach smiles and gently lets his hand slide down to the small of her back before he removes it. "I wouldn't say no to a straight whiskey if you have that." Sarah shivers at the touch and moves to her drinks cabinet where she pulls out a bottle of whiskey. If Zach can get a look at the label it's a pretty good whiskey. Not the best, but by no means the bottle of the barrel eather. She pours to glasses and hands one to Zach before wandering around the room and dimming the lights. She also puts on some nice music, soft and slow. Zach taks his glass with a smile and a thank you, and watches her move about the room. "You're beautiful Sarah.." he sais softly. Sarah smiles at him "Thank you. You paged Sarah with 'I've been trying to picture you in my mind. Do you look anything like Diana King? http://www.eng.miami.edu/~kbrown/dianak.jpg (Jamaican pop/reggae singer)'. Sarah stretches slowly and looks at him with bright eyes "But tonight I don't want to be beutiful. Tonight I want to be sexy. I want you hot and bothered and lusty." Sarah pages: one sec Zach holds out an arm and smiles. "Come here, hon." Sarah chuckles, low and sultry as she moves into his arms." Zach pulls her to him and softly kisses her temple and her brow. "I don't lust. I love. I hope you don't mind, princess." Zach says, "I'm gonna have to go very soon now. :/" Sarah rubs up against him and pouts slightly "Aww" Sarah nods Zach caresses her neckline with his fingers. "Aww?" Sarah puts her arms around his waist and nuzzles his neck "Love is nice, but sometimes I just want to be taken you know. It's flattering sometimes to know that man just has to have me." Sarah pages: sorry, can't see to access the picture. Zach puts away his whiskey glass and puts both his arms around her, holding her and slowly cuddling and stroking her. "I can dig that. But making love will get you that too. Lovemaking, after all, is to have a good time while ensuring that the one you're havign a good time with also is having a good time." He smiles a twinkly, loving, and slightly naughty smile. Sarah giggles "Of course. Having a good time is point. But isn;t also possible to have a good time when both people are ripping eatch other's clothes off and making love on the kitchen floor. Not all lovemaking has be slow and gentle." Zach nods. "True. But if the men in you life have left you with lust only... Well then you've got another thing coming, princess." He lifts her up and carries her over to the couch where, very soon, hot and creative things start to happen. And Zach makes sure Sarah loves every second of it. Zach says, "Eh. I seem to have lost the 'v' in 'loves'.. :P" You paged Sarah with ''s okay. I was just curious:)'. Sarah giggles happily and enjoys herself as shows that she now knows what Zach likes too. She seems determaned to show to Zach how inventive she can get with not only her body, but with her mouth and hands as well. She also loudly lets Zach know what she likes and just how good he is. Ah the beauty of having no neighbors." So the two clandestine lovers have a very pleasant night, and pretend to go to sleep at some undefined point in the wee hours... The End. Sarah laughs
