Logfile from Brass&Steel. You breeze to the front of the line. The doormen give you a once over and, reaching a decision, finally allow you to enter. Purgatorio - Divine Comedy - Crown Center The ground level of Divine Comedy, Purgatorio is as circular as the walls that surround it, as are the floors above and below. The floor rises in small concentric tiers from the outside in, until it meets a large pillar in the center. Around the pillar itself is the DJ's booth, and the levels between the booth and the wall are designed for dancing, with railings seaparating the various levels for the safety of the dancers. Around the outside level are placed tables to seat four or five, with the appropriate chairs, and a wet bar is located behind the central pillar from the door. Patrons are invited to rest here when they aren't dancing. The DJ is dressed as a traditional club DJ would be, in cargo pants, a baggy jersey, visor and goggles, and enormous shoes. The rest of the staff on this level are made up to be traditional house staff, the men in prim tuxedos and the women in maids' uniforms. At the northern end of the room is a wrought-iron staircase, leading upward into Paradiso. A guard stands at its foot, carefully watching the crowd and the line of people trying to get upstairs. At the southern side lies its counterpart, a spiral staircase made of industrial steel that leads downstairs into Inferno. There is a guard here, too, but he looks somehow rougher around the edges, and he seems to be not as selective as Paradiso's guard. The double doors shut behind you with a *whump*, blocking the rest of the crowd out as you proceed into Purgatorio. Roger shakes his head "Nope, must have sliped my mind. Zach will hang back for a pose or two Roger nods Warren is chatting with Roger further in the club near a booth that remains empty, because they're hovering there as though they plan to sit. He says to Roger, "Well, I would like to find an absolute angel." He smiles a bit. Roger nods "Ah I remember. Any luck?" Zach slips into the club and takes stock of the crowd before making his relaxed way to the bar. There he gets himself a bottle of Newcastle Brown and turns around to continue scanning the crowd and wet his tonsils with cold beer. Warren shrugs slightly, "Well, angels are hard to come by. There is somebody... Oh, speak of the devil..." He mutters to himself something. Roger says, "Oh? Who?" He turns to see who Warren is muttering at and smiles when he sees Zach."" Zach says, "Perception, as I figure you're not /that/ easy to see. :)" AutoJudge: Zach rolls: 3 + 1 = 4 . Check die: 1 Zach has hoisted himself up on a stool and is sending flirting smiles to a girl on the dancefloor, while taking a few hearty drinks from his bottle. Then he feels eyes upon him and takes a closer look around. His eyes sweep right past Warren and Roger, but he manages at last to spot them on the return sweep. HE smiles and lifts the bottle in greeting. Warren is off for a bit unfortunately. Consider it that Warren got pulled into a dance or something and I'll hopefully be back before you all leave. Roger smiles, and as Warren is pulled off he heads towards Zach "Zach man, hows it going?" Warren nods back as Marnie shows up and drags him off onto the floor. (ooc: Figure I may as well start using a regular cast of characters. ;) ) He'll probably be busy for a while. Zach grins to Roger and gives his shoulder a hearty thump in greeting. "Hey there, Roge! I'm doing fine. How 'bout you? Got back to work yet?" Roger shakes his head "This monday. I don't mind. I'm kinda of enjoying the forced vacation." His eyes wander towards a pretty woman at the bar and then he looks back at Zach "How've you been? Any word from above?" Warren has disconnected. Zach shakes his head. "Nada and zilch. I haven't managed to get ahold of Cosmo yet though. He's been awfuly busy with his role. You seen him any?" Roger nods "A few days ago with Harriet. He said that he hadn't gotten any word either." Zach sighs and mutters to himself. "Seems we're gonna have to go to the Commander's HQ then. I'll talk to Cosmo first though." He smiles a bit. It's not /quite/ a nervous smile, but.. Roger peers "What's wrong with going there? Is not allowed? Zach chuckles and shakes his head. "Of course it's allowed. It's just that I haven't excactly been there much. That lot are extremely ana...um... Form and etiquette is very important with them, so I'll have to brush up on my manners. Stuffy shirt kind of manners that I haven't used since they were in fashion down here." Roger chuckles "I see." He turns and looks at Zach, placing a hand on his shoulder "I really appreate you doing this for me." Zach pats Roger's arm. "No sweat buddy, it's my privilege to help out. Now tell me, have your guys found out anythig more about those gunmen?" Roger nods "Yeah, I got some info on the dead one. You say, "Will you tell me if I buy you a beer?" Roger chuckles "Sure will." Zach buys Roger a beer of his choice and looks expectantly at him with a smile and twinkle in his eyes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- To answer your questions: 1. The slain gunman was autopsied. Cause of death, obviously, was a gunshot wound to the chest. 2. Fingerprints from the body indicate his identity was Harold Johnson, a 38 year old white male with a criminal record of burglary, aggravated assault and drunk driving. Harold has a brother, James Johnson, who has a criminal record of aggravated assault and armed robbery. He has a KCMO address and police are searching for him for questioning. 3. No information has been found on the brown van that the other attackers escaped in. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roger takes a swollow of the beer and spills his info. Zach nods as he listens and digest. "Hm. Sounds like they were gund for hire. I don't think this was their baby, so to speak." Roger nods "Thats what Cosmo and I were thinking. I wonder who hired them. We should find out." Zach agrees with a curt nod. "Yes. I never got a good look at any of those guys, so clues will be hard to come by. I have more hope about your guys catching up with the dead guy's brother." Roger smiles "We can only hope. I wonder why Jerzy. Crazed fans? Zach shrugs. "Could be. Or it could be some mob thing or whatever. It's so sad that he has to go through all that, being so young. Poor kid. Say, did Harriet talk to you about sending flowers to Jerzy from the three of us?" Roger shakes his head "Nope, fraid she didn't mention anything." He glances at him "Has she mentioned that Lucian is back in town?" Zach nods with a grimace. "Yep. Met him. Still don't like him." Roger snorts "Well I hope you wouldn't. I've only run into him once and I didn't know who he was then. Oh, has the Shed been leaving her alone?" Zach shifts on his stool and crosses one leg over the other. "Yeah, as far as I can tell it has. How 'bout you?" He lays a gentle hand on Roger's arm. You paged Roger with 'and tries to resonate with a +2 CD :)'. AutoJudge: Zach rolls: 1 + 6 = 7 . Check die: 5 Zach says, "HA!!" Roger nods slightly and smiles "Yeah, haven't heard anything from it. That I know of at least. Roger says, "eep, what do you need?" You paged Roger with 'All of it, baby! :) most+least noble deed last week, 3 most+least noble deeds last year, most+least noble ever and highest/lowes potential.'. From afar, Roger bangs his head on the keyboard. Roger pages: give me a few. Long distance to Roger: Zach will do so. :) You paged Roger with 'Actually, just give me the first one, and tell me if there's been any changes in Roger the last few months. I did a deep reading of you a few months back. :)'. Roger pages: Most noble last week. Err protecting Jerzy, least noble, sleeping with a woman who he knew was emotionaly vunerable because she really wanted him too. Zach regards Roger with some satisfaction. "That's good, that's very good. I hope it keeps on staying away, but I wouldn't count on it. I'm hunting it, but I haven't found the thing yet." Roger makes a face "Yeah, it can hide pretty well." Roger says, "Oh did you know that Brynn's an angel?"" Zach nods with a grin. "Oh yeah, I did. Who told you that? Did she introduce herself or something?" he asks, doubt evident in his voice and his mischiveous grin. Roger chuckles "I had dinner with her, Harriet and Cosmo. Who does she work for? Zach takes another swig of his bottle and gives Roger a lopsided smile. "Uh... I /think/ it's better if she tells you herself.." Roger nods "Sure, I guess. I don't really know how this goes." Zach sighs. "You know I've been a bit loose with my tounge earlier, and that got you yelled at by Duke..." Roger winces slightly at the memory "Yeah, I remember that." Zach nods and smiles apologetically. "So I gotta be careful. I do not want to piss her off. I have a hunch that she might need me sonner or later, and she's extremely proud. I'm gonna have to work hard to make sure I don't alienate her in any way." Roger nods "Yeah, I know how that goes." He takes a swollow of his beer "So, what have you been up too? Oh hey Is Harriet finaly a Solider now? Zach shakes his head. "Not quite yet. We're planning to move on with things next week. Hachilah has finally showed up, so now I know how to proceed." Roger perks up "Hachi's back. Cool. Where was she?" Zach snorts. "She's been on a walkabout and didn't know how to use a phone properly... But she's fine and hopefully back for a while." Roger grins "Cool! I'm glad she's back. I've missed her." Zach smiles. "Yeah, I did too." He finishes his beer. "So how well do you know this Warren dude?" Roger shrugs "Fairly well I guess. You?" Zach shakes his head. "Not at all. I've just spoken with him once or twice. What's your impression of him?" Roger shrugs "Not a bad fellow, a bit touchy sometimes. Zach nods. "Yeah, that was my impression too. The time I spoke with him, he seemed to almost look for insults or patronizing lines. Harriet says the same. HE's some kind of artist.." Roger nods "Yeah, so he tell me. Not really sure what sort of art he does though. Zach thinks back. "Hm, I think he does photography and some kind of collages, but I'm not sure. He was kinda vague when he tried to describe it. And apparantly his muse ain't been around lately, so he's not getting anywhere. That may be why he's so easily upset. It's no fun when inspiration is lacking." Roger smiles slightly "I'll have to take your word on that. I'm not really that much of a creative guy." Zach chuckles and relaxes against the bar. "But you do sing in a choir, don't you? That's Creation work right there!" Roger grins "Well true, but I guess I don't really think of it as creating anything. It's not like we're writing the songs or anything. You say, "But you're performing and making yourself and others feel joy and perhaps some wonder. You're giving the listeners a gift of song and music whenever you perform, and you also give it to yourself. That's part of my Archangel's Word. We're also big on teachers and inventors." Roger looks slightly embarrased "Well, thanks. That's nice to know." Zach griiiiiins and eyes Roger teasingly. "Hey now, what's that embarrased look on your mug? You don't like the idea of spreading Eli's Word?" Roger chuckles "Oh sure, I don't mind it. It's just not my main focus, like it is Harriets." Zach nod and smile warmly. "No you're a cop, so you're already sworn to serve and protect. Only now you're sworn in with an even greater authority. We've got to get some sort of connection up between you and one of the War faction Thethers at least." Roger looks curious "Whats a teather?" Zach quirks another smile. "A tether. It's a place where the true light of Heaven touch this plane, and they're all attuned to different Archangels. It gives them some measure of power I believe, and it also funcions as a Star Trek transporter for us angels. We can beam up to Heaven and down to Earth in a Tether. Hell has 'em too." Roger takes a swollow of his beer and nods "Ah I see. Can humans travel in them? Zach shakes his head. "Nope. Not unless you've died and become a Saint." Roger nods "I see." He drinks more of his beer "So, what Heaven Tethers are in the area?" "Only two. Trade and Stone. We had one too, but... We lost it in a blitz attack from Hell." Zach looks sad and angry at this. It's a touchy subject. Roger blinks "When was this?" Zach shrugs. "Back in the early seventies. I wasn't around these parts then. Duke would know more, but you wanna be very, /very/ careful if you intend to ask him. I won't recommend it, because the loss of that Tether hurt him greatly and hurts him still." Roger nods "Oh...hmmm, how about the other side. What do they have? Zach scratches his head. "As far as I know there's Factions and Drugs. Factions have been around for a long time, but Drugs are kinda new.." he says uncomfortably. Roger notes the uncomfortabless "What's wrong? Zach sighs. "Drugs took our Tether and made it theirs," he answers curtly. Zach has to break for lunch. You ready for bed, maybe? :) Roger winces "Ah. I see." He pauses for a moment "Any err, plans to get it back. The current time in Kansas City is 03:29 AM, Thu Jan 09, 2003. Roger looks at the time and nods "Yeah." Zach sighs even more heavily. "I wish... But that's not gonna happen anytime soon I think. It'll take a major force of attack, and that could easily spark a full-blown war in Kaycee..." he admits sadly. Roger nods "Not something we want." He finishes off his beer and sighs "Well, better head home. It was nice talking to you." You say, "As always, keep this info to yourself mate. It was good seeing you, I hope I'll have some better news soon."" Roger smiles "Me too. I hope you get upstairs soon." Roger waves "Night! Roger has disconnected.
