The software that runs the GTF-Talk email discussion list has been changed
from Listproc to Majordomo. To manage your subscription, send email to
majordomo@more.net instead of listproc@more.net. Messages for the list
still go to gtf-talk@more.net.

Other command changes are listed below. I will be changing the webpage
information as soon as possible (am in St. Louis for the Int.' Instructors
Course and Worlds).

If you have any problems or questions, please let me know.

For the vast majority of users, the change will be transparent: MOREnet will
convert the list and move all list members without any action from the list
owner or members. Users of the lists should continue to send and receive
mail to and from the list in exactly the same way they do today.

Majordomo offers several performance advantages, including:
- -Majordomo processes mail in a parallel fashion, with multiple lists
processed simultaneously.
- -Majordomo presorts a large list and opens a single sendmail process for all
mail bound for a single address. This is a huge advantage when posting to
very large lists, where a single post is processed for 8000 subscribers.
- -List management for the administrator is simplified using Majordomo.

The addresses for sending mail to a list will remain the same.

The addresses for administrative requests will change:

majordomo@more.net REPLACES listproc@more.net

For list members who frequently use the list commands, Majordomo will
require the following changes:

COMMANDS

Commands should be sent in the body of an e-mail message to
"majordomo@more.net".

Multiple commands can be processed provided each occurs on a separate line.

Commands in the "Subject" line are NOT processed.

NEW LIST USER COMMANDS

New user commands used in Majordomo that were not used in listproc include:

intro - Allows a user to get the introductory message sent to new
subscribers to a list.

info - Allows a user to retrieve the general introductory message
sent to new users. Non-subscribers may not be able to retrieve this message.

lists - Shows the lists served by this Majordomo server.

end - Stop processing commands (useful if your mailer ads a signature).

COMMANDS WITH NEW SYNTAX

Users will also need to know of changes in syntax. Below is a list of
commands that will have a change in syntax, but not a change in function.
Majordomo commands are listed first, followed by the listproc command it
replaces.
   [] indicates an optional argument/word.
   <> indicates an argument.
{} lists choices, separated by |.
