Korg Karma

The Karma was recently introduced at the `01 winter NAMM, and caused a big buzz. It is essentially a "low-cost" ($2250 list) version of the triton featuring certain new functions.

The sound source is identical to that of the triton (same samples, architecture, memory, use same pcm boards and moss card).

The sequencer, too, is identicall with 200.000 notes memory, smf import/export and live playback

The arpeggiator and sampler/inputs of the triton is removed, along with the touchscreen and two audio outs

So what does this keyboard add? Answer: Karma, lots of Karma (expect some cheesy adds for this one). Karma is developed by http://www.karma-lab.com/ Evidently, this is some kind of auto-accompaniement/arpeggiator feature, although they point out that it is not marketed at the home-keyboard crowd.

The Karma use the notes that you play to generate all sorts of licks/arpeggios/streams that are shaped by 400 parameters (16 of which are realtime controlled by the new 8 knobs and a button). 1000 GE-s (the unit for storing Karama "patches") are provided, new ones can be loaded.
