The triton filters

There have been said a lot about the triton filters, especially compared to those found in its elder sibling. To find out what is going on, I have done some informal analysis of its frequency repsonse.

I have to emphasize that the accuracy is limited by my soundblaster live card. However, for illustration purposes, this shouldnt be a problem. Compare pic 1 and pic 2 to see how the triton da converters + my soundcard affect the frequency response.

Conclusion:

The triton use 12dB/oct filters in both modi. There seems to be some coupling between the q and filter cutoff (increased q-> slightly higher cutoff frequency, and lower passband gain). A bandstop filter can be simulated at the expense of one extra oscillator (see last pic).

3. Lowpass-filter at 75, no q.

4. Lowpass-filter at 75, Q = 50

5. Lowpass-filter at 75, Q = 99

6. highpass filter at 25

7. Highpass filter at 99

8. Highpass filter at 40 lowpass at 60 ( bandpass filtering)

9. Simulated bandstop using double oscillators for series filtering.
